I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with team Hurtado BBQ at an outing at central market, the official barbecue restaurant of the Texas Rangers, and it was an experience that went far beyond great food. Watching Brandon Hurtado and his team in action was incredible. They served more than 700 people with efficiency, warmth, and some of the best high-quality Tex-Mex barbecue I’ve ever tasted. But what stood out most was the atmosphere—it felt less like a business operation and more like a family gathering in the truest sense of the word. As the day unfolded, Brandon’s family came out to support him, including his grandmother, which spoke volumes about the values behind the brand. Local chefs were also there showing their support, a testament to the respect Brandon has earned within the culinary community. Despite his success, Brandon remains remarkably down-to-earth, approachable, and genuine. In a world where success can sometimes create distance, he has remained grounded and connected to the people around him. To top it all off, he generously gifted me a signed copy of his recipe book—a gesture I truly appreciated. Great food, great people, and a great story.
